Santa Clara hat 116.000 Einwohner und wurde 1777 gegruendet (ziemlich alt fuer amerikanische Verhaeltnisse). Die Stadt liegt im Zentrum von Silicon Valley und ist die neunt-groesste Stadt in der San Francisco Bay Area.
Hier wohne ich. Viele Technologie-Firmen sind hier angesidelt und unter anderem sind Cisco und Oracle in Laufdistanz zu meiner Wohnung. Ich kann eines der DELL-Bueros von meinem Balkon sehen. Letztens war ich auf der Suche nach einem Stadtzentrum, habe aber keins gefunden und auch eine Internet-Recherche brachte nichts heraus. Das Franklin Square kommt einem Zentrum am naechsten, aber ausser dem woechentlichen Farmers Market gibt es hier nicht wirklich etwas zu sehen.

The city is in the center of Silicon Valley and is the 9th-largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is where I live. Many of the technology companies are here and I could walk to Cisco and Oracle from my apartment. Even DELL is in walking distance to my apartment, just not eBay. A few days ago, I was searching for a city center of some sorts, but couldn’t really find one. Even a search on the internet didn’t help. Franklin Square is the closest to a center, but other than the weekly farmers market there isn’t much there either.
